Raíz is deeply personal to us, not because it is new, but because it has always existed.

We grew up surrounded by craft. Moradabad was not just a place of work for our family; it was part of everyday life. Artisans, foundries, materials, and long conversations about quality and process shaped our understanding of what it means to make something well.

Our grandfather, Raes, was a pioneer in India’s craft and trade industry. His work laid the foundation not only in skill, but in values: integrity, consistency, and respect for people and process. Our father carried that foundation forward through decades of manufacturing and exporting, quietly building expertise, relationships and trust across global markets. The work endured, even when the name remained unseen.

For decades, our family’s work travelled the world under other names. As we spent more time outside India, we became increasingly aware of the responsibility that came with this legacy. The responsibility to step forward, to give this work a clear identity, and to represent it with intention. Today, as the third generation, we have stepped forward to give this legacy its own voice. The name Raíz, meaning “roots,” is a quiet tribute to where it all began and to the lineage we continue through our own brand.

It is not a departure from our past, rather a continuation of it. Through Raíz, we aim to present Indian craftsmanship as it truly is: skilled, relevant, and deserving of a place in contemporary homes around the world.

We see ourselves not just as founders, but as custodians. Of craft. Of relationships. Of a legacy built over generations.

Founders,
